The Secret Mountain is pleased to share six forthcoming titles that will be released in Spring 2021.
Little Stories of Great Composers
From the author of Little Creatures: An Introduction to Classical Music, a new collection of six musical picture books by Ana Gerhard introduces readers to classical composers through the eyes (and ears!) of a charming cheese- and music-loving mouse called Minim.
In That’s My Piano, Sir!, (March 2021), travel back in time to 18th-century Vienna, Austria, where a young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart meets Minim on his way to playing a concert in the city.
A Delicious Taste of Mozzarella! (April 2021) brings Minim on a vacation adventure with Sasha and Bobik as they spend time with their favourite uncle, none other than Pyotr Ilyitch Tchaikovsky.
With great courage, in Some Creatures Have All the Luck! (May 2021) Minim braves a cold Venetian winter night to visit an orphanage where he meets Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi.
Each 36-page hardcover book features a symphony of illustrations by Marie La France, and is accompanied with a CD and unique code for digital download. A Canadian stage and screen actor Colm Feore lends his vocal talent as narrator.
Three additional titles will be published in the Fall.
Sing Out! Six Classic Folk Songs for Tomorrow
Rediscover your favourite folk songs with Sing Out!(March 2021), an endearingly offbeat rendering of timeless kids’ songs for a new generation. This 156-page hardcover book adds colour to timeless tunes with illustrations by Sophie Casson and fresh performances by Sin and Swoon, available in the accompanying CD and digital download.
One Story, One Song
Uncover stories and songs from around the world with One Story-One Song, a new collection of musical picture books.
First published in Spanish, Music All Around (April 2021) by Gema Sirvent tells the story of Sofia who is off to visit her grandparents in the dark pines over the holidays where she’ll discover the music of the night. Wistful illustrations by Lucia Cobo and music by Cristóbal López Gándara accompany her on her journey, captured in a 36-page hardcover book with an accompanying CD and digital download.
Originally published in China, Summer Midnight Concert (May 2021) features an enchanting story and illustrations by Han Han. When the power goes out in her apartment building one hot summer night, Xiaomi hears magical sounds she will never forget. Music by Jean-François Groulx accompanies this 36-page hardcover book with a CD and digital download.
