A collection of lullabies and nursery rhymes from Brazil and Portugal that invites children on an authentic musical journey to explore the strong cultural ties that bind the two countries. The fifteen traditional songs blend samba, modinha, fandango and bossa nova, and are performed by an ensemble of women, men and children. This uplifting and enchanting production, featuring several indigenous acoustic instruments, captures the convergence of rich and diverse styles.
Lyrics are presented in Portuguese and translated into English, followed by notes on the origin and cultural context of each song.

Magdeleine Lerasle is an early childhood educator and researcher specializing in teaching language to children in Paris, and is also the author of Songs in the Shade of the Olive Tree.
Paul Mindy is an award-winning musician who received the Georges Brassens Prize honouring his work in Brazilian music. He is an arranger, composer, singer and percussionist. He has worked alongside other musicians such as Carlo Rizzo, Baden Powell and Richard Galliano.
Aurélia Fronty is a graduate from the Duperré School of Graphic Arts in France. She has illustrated more than 40 books for children, including I Have the Right to Be a Child, which was nominated to the USBBY Outstanding International Book Honour List and Wangari Maathai, winner in the “Best Book” category at the Children’s Africana Book Awards.
